Your community is calling for help volunteer for South Asian Helpline

Volunteers can help build healthy communities through gift of time, energy and passion.
South Asian Helpline is a free and confidential phone service for South Asian community that provides immediate emotional support, crisis intervention, information on community resources and effective referrals in Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu and English.
We offer follow up case management through our helpline which makes us unique among existing mainstream crisis lines in Lower mainland and Canada.
Being a helpline volunteer, you will gain valuable experience, knowledge, skills and tools while helping those in need and contributing to healthy, strong and vibrant community.
We provide extensive training in crisis intervention, violence in relationships, substance use, mental health and addictions using client-centered and empowerment approach.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Fluent in English and One or more South Asian languages like Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu
  • Empathetic and active listener
  • Non-judgmental
  • Open to learning and growth
  • Volunteer 4 hours every week
  • Minimum commitment of 100 hours after completion of training
  • Negative Criminal check
